Jammu, Mar 11 (KNO): The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday witnessed protests from treasury benches as well as Kashmir-based opposition after leader of the opposition Sunil Sharma again called martyrs of July 13, 1931 as traitors. During discussion on the budget, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer, NC legislator Showkat Hussain Ganie slammed BJP for what they have done in Jammu & Kashmir for the past few years and mentioned 1947. As Showkat was speaking, BJP MLA Sham Lal Sharma asked him to talk about 1931. “They are our heroes,” Altaf Kaloo of NC responded. Countering him, BJP MLA Sunil Sharma said that they are traitors and will remain traitors, triggering strong protests from NC and Kashmir-based opposition parties. Amid protests over remarks of Sharma, CPI (M) leader Muhammad Yosouf Tarigami urged the Speaker to take note of his words. “Derogatory remarks were used against Martyrs of 1931. 1931 Martyrs were called traitors. You are the actual traitors,” Tarigami said, pointing to BJP legislators. Amid commotion in the House, MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed demanded expunging of remarks made by the BJP leader.
